Ok so Wednesday's section lunch wa a semi- success. Managed to stay away from the carbs and ordered a rib eye steak, but also had a frosted chocolate malt... There was some drama with the steak cos I ordered it well done and it came with blood still oozing from it and I was like wtf? Called the waiter over and he was like, you ordered medium. I was like, I would never order medium. I ordered it well done. Gggrrrr. Don't know about you but I like my meat dead and cooked not bleeding all over my plate. Sheesh. The ice cream was good! But I didn't enjoy it as much as I used to. Times are a changin'!
Had dinner at MIL's and told her I wasn't having any rice. She was like, but why, it's your sis who's getting married not you. I'm like, but I have to lose weight before I turn 30! Haha.
Anyway, was fasting yesterday, had some eggs for sahur. Had some yummy fried chicken for dinner... Mmmmm chicken... I know I know it should not have been fried but I'm fasting here :p
Since I wasn't eating during lunch, I went for a haircut at the salon I've been going to for the past... 16 years!! Of cos it's never the same hairdresser lah. It's funny how the bright lights and many mirrors suddenly make you realise that DAMN I am not that young anymore! Even from 2 metres away in the mirror I could see a strand of white hair taunting me :( and hello double chin! Depressing... The next time I step into that salon I better make sure I will like what's looking back at me in the mirror!!

breakfast dialogue
So this morning I made the hubby his usual bowl of oats and made a couple of sunny side up eggs for myself.
F: how come you get yummy eggs and I get yucky oats?
Me: yucky oats? I thought you liked oats?
F: (incoherent mumbling)
Me: well I'm primal and you're not... So there
Then I gave him a bite of my eggs to show him what he was missing :)
Interestingly enough, he admitted that the side fat on his stomach went away when he tried going primal for a couple of weeks... And that it's back now since he didn't continue being primal. Coincidence? I think not!
In other news my Head is taking us out to an ice-cream buffet tomoro for lunch. I hope I have the willpower to say no and order a ceasar salad with chicken instead. After all, discipline is about giving up what you want now, for what you want most.

Omg headache much?
So, made it through one day with no carbs and now I am freaking hungry and I have a headache. Headache could possibly be due to lack of sleep too since I've been up since 6am...
Lessons learnt today:
1. Kai lan tastes terrible in my usual stir-fry. Should cook it in turmeric and coconut milk next time.
2. If I don't bring my own food to work, I will starve or pay an exorbitant amount for an almost primal meal.
3. Kampong chicken really is tougher than the usual stuff :(

30 by 30? well alright then
ok i'm back. the reason i've been gone? going primal is freaking hard lor. been doing it half-assed for the past 6 months or so and now i think i'm finally ready to do it full-assed.
i'd been looking for a reason to make this work and none seemed to stick. i considered doing it for myself and my own good, but it just didn't seem like a good enough reason to me... maybe because i consider myself relatively healthy albeit overweight. yes, i know the weight is a problem in itself but i can run a 5k, i can bust out a few push ups and squats and do planks... maybe i don't look as good as i'd like to but that's why i only take pictures from neck up :p
after comtemplating the situation sommore, i finally came to a conclusion... i need to do this to be a walking ad on what eating right and being active can do for people. first of all, not just any people but for my family. i have had an aunt who passed away from brain cancer, another is currently battling colon cancer and i don't want to see anyone else going down that road. a close family friend and my hubby's religious teacher also recently passed away from colon cancer. i tried telling my aunt about going primal/ paleo and she started telling me about cancer patients who went on a green juice diet and had to do it FOREVER and alkaline water. i was like, whut???
then i realised that just preaching about this lifestyle is not going to cut it. i need to SHOW them that it works, and hopefully that will interest them enough to want to try it for themselves. therefore my new goal: 30 pounds off by the time i turn 30 in august. why 30? because 13.6kg just doesn't sound as nice. haha. it is a little more than i was originally planning to lose but you know what they say... if your goals don't scare you, you're not aiming high enough. or in this case, low enough.
hopefully i will be blogging more regularly. maybe once a week for a start and we'll see how it goes from there. so here goes nothing, starting stats and first goal:
start point:
vitals 112-99-103 (cm)
weight 77kg/ 170 lbs
first goal:
weight 74.8kg/ 165 lbs
yup that's all i'm measuring. vital stats and weight. using weight as a goal marker as it's easier than calculating vital stats. don't worry, will be posting up the stats that go with the weight. i did not set a time frame for when i should get to the first goal, but i figure the 8 wk countdown is scary enough :)
8 weeks to birthday!!
